When we saw his videos we tripped hard. Donato Sansone, in art Milkyeyes, considers himself a smart and imaginative guy, but we think he’s also a bit’ genius, certainly one of those who manages to create works that at some point you don’t understand if you’re going out really.
What makes us strip, of his works, beyond the technical and artistic level, is that he can give shape to thoughts. An impulse becomes an idea that becomes a sketch, drawing, color, matter, sheet, many sheets. Images, many pictures, video. Art.
The French magazine Cahiers du cinéma also spoke of its video game (short film). In 2013, L’œil de link of Canal+ produced a report on his work. His videos are currently distributed by the French company Autor de minut.
With Topo Glassato al cioccolato (short film, 2012) and Videogioco he won awards at the major international film and animation festivals.
Oh, among his projects there is also Donny Porno Shop, which we do not know how to define, perhaps a desperate attempt to turn erotic thoughts into reality. Because yes, Milkyeyes from a sex point of view is a bit below. But then he feels the impulse, the spark, and then hello, who stops it.
To us it doesn’t seem like one of many, and Notorious attitude, as far as we are concerned, has a lot. If there is someone who can provoke without giving too much trouble, this is him, and we like it, we like it a lot.
There are moments, for each of us, when ideas come more easily than others. When is this moment for you?
In reality I have no moments, ideas come out over and over as a natural process of thought, I get ideas over and over again and even too much to make me appear anything that I have done so far compared to what I would have wanted and want to do.
Artist, video maker, graphic designer, your artistic and professional figure is versatile, the meanings and skills mix. How do you feel, or rather, what do you feel to be?
I feel like a boy with a little more imagination and wit, who feels the existential need and physical and mental to realize their ideas in any way, with video with animation with painting with love…. in any way.
Some of your works express a sense of strong unease. Where does this tension come from?
I don’t think they are preoccupied with anxiety… that I have, it’s true, I have a strong anxiety of reality, a strong sense of paranoia sometimes and I’m invaded by anxiety, but what I realize artistically are things much less sophisticated than they seem, they are also read very often, read ironic and superficial.
Every work is a real trip. But how much do your trips "take away"?
My trips do not take me away, they are just playful fantasies even when they seem serious, in short, trips are a play with fantasy as you play with dolls when you are young.
The rhythm of your videos is captivating: from the first moment, you are like caught and transported on a journey, sometimes turbulent, whose duration becomes indefinable. Audio plays a key role. How do the visual and acoustic components come into play in production?
It is a correct observation, the audio or sound design play a fundamental role as a second creation of the video, in the sense that not only is fundamental but is an extreme accomplishment of the video. It is a process of intellectual and emotional harmony with the composer that I had the good fortune to meet in Enrico Ascoli. Besides being my sound designer he is also a friend and therefore knows me and what I’m looking for. Not everyone is lucky enough to find a sound designer who can “hear” musically what the video creator feels. Enrico does.
Milkyeyes... what is the origin of this name?
This nickname was given to me by my ex-girlfriend Lucia. Now the new girlfriend named Felicita has put me some new ones including Pomponny that I like very much and that would be the fusion of Donny, blow-job, and pom pom.
Does the sex drive inspire you artistically... or make you lose?
The sexual drive is for me the motor of everything, and it is precisely for this reason happiness and anguish, because it contains almost all the sense of what I am.
If there is an excess, what is it?
In my opinion the real excesses are actions that bring a problem to another person or themselves, only that is an excess and that is when an action causes a problem. Anything that brings pleasure and does not cause any disturbance to third persons, or that does not cause the destruction or death of oneself is not an excess.
Was there a particularly illuminating moment in your life?
No there was a particular moment, it was a constant growth where the friends and intelligent people I had around me in my life taught me everything.
Was there a particularly difficult moment in your artistic journey? And how did you get out of it?
Yes, the difficult time was from when I was born until about 30 years old and that is when I had not yet achieved anything I wanted, then it began to be easier and more beautiful when I started making videos and that is what I enjoyed and liked most.
What is the real opportunity that should be taken today by those who want to do?
The only opportunity you have is to really have something inside, that is worlds, fantasies, dreams, sensitivity. If you have these things you are lucky enough to have an opportunity, otherwise not.
What’s missing today?
The desire to want something and to want to achieve something is missing, this is the real lack we have today because we have practically everything and it’s a contradiction, because the whole thing gives us nothing takes away only the beauty of feeling the desire for something that gives us the reason to play to live, that’s why today’s kids are more bored and empty.

Beautiful this question even if I think I no longer want to challenge intellectually and creatively anyone, but physically the tamarri that I meet on the street, but I can not even afford it because unfortunately those they beat me with blows … I wish I was big and strong so I could beat the shit out of them.
